One aspect of boxing cards that is overlooked is the value of the rookie cards. In other sports, rookie cards are always the most sought after type of cards. In boxing, a rookie card is sometimes forgotten about and overlooked. Here are some boxing rookie cards that can be had for a relatively small amount of money that could be a great gift or even a great investment:
Lennox Lewis
Lewis is an underrated talent whose true greatness won’t be understood until years down the line. He’s not a big name in the boxing collecting world, so you can get quality cards of his for under their eventual value.
Oscar De La Hoya
Not only is he still boxing, but his business career is setup so that he’ll be a force in the boxing industry long after he retires. His name and associated value should continue to grow for years. Above is a very nice rookie card of his that was produced in 1992.
Roberto Duran
Duran has a dedicated fan base that after all these years. His place in history is still up for debate, but a card such as this rookie card of his should only go up in value as the years go on.
